Why self-host
Three reasons, in order of importance. First, data posture: survivor conversations and justice-impacted interview practice sessions don't belong on third-party API logs. Second, cost: per-token API pricing does not scale for programs where session count is the success metric. Third, control: a self-hosted model stack fails in ways I can see, reproduce, and fix. A third-party API fails in ways I can only report.
